FAA outlaws sharing of charter licenses
Article summary: Over the years, many air ambulance companies and 135 operators found a loophole in the Federal Aviation Regulations. Rather than employing their own Director of Operations, Chief Pilot and Director of Maintenance, all required by the FAA, these companies were "renting" a 135 certificate. Though many air ambulance companies save money operating in this manner, they are operating illegally and with much risk to their Clients. 

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has become aware of the number of companies operating illegally and are beginning to take action to shut down these umbrella companies and all those operating under their 135 certificate. The basis for this action is that the 135 operators do not have "operational control" over these renegade air ambulance companies. One such article highlighting this problem can be found here
